Friends of the Nampa Public Library
The Friends of the Nampa Public Library enhances your library visit in many ways. We have purchased books and media for the collection, online programs, prizes for summer reading, and rewards for youth volunteers. We invite you to donate books and other media, which may be placed in the library's collection or sold from our book cart or at our annual used book sale. We invite all who love the library to join our group!
It's easy to join the Friends, with annual membership dues of $10 for those under age 18 or over age 65; $15 for an individual; $20 for a family; $50 for a patron and $100 for a business or sustaining member. (If you are on a budget, you can volunteer in place of some of that cost.)
Membership packets and committee sign-ups are available. The Board of the Friends group meets monthly. Watch for our quarterly newsletter! For more information, contact Jeanette Quist.
"When is Nampa going to get its new library?" None of us know, but the time is getting closer. Yes, we are all eager for that day to come. But, in the mean time, our library team is doing its best with the facility we have. The Friends of the Nampa Public Library are working both toward that new building and supporting good things that are happening in the current library.
You can help the Friends help the Nampa Public Library in many ways:
1. Your cash contributions
2. Donations of used books
3. Purchasing used books donated to the Friends
4. Volunteering time
Cash contributions? You can send tax-deductible cash contributions to the Friends who will use those gifts to support library programs and purchase of new resources. You can also support the Friends through payment of annual membership dues. Members receive regular newsletters and early admission to our annual book sale.
Donations of books? You can donate books by bringing them to the barrel near the library's first floor restrooms. Or, if you have lots of books, contact Jeanette Quist and we will come get them for you. What do the Friends do with donated books? We sell them online, at our annual book sale, at the Nampa Seniors' Center each month, and at other locations. Income from these sales helps the Friends support our library.
Purchasing books? You can support the Friends by buying books at our large sales, on our book sale cart (located near the library's first floor restrooms), or online.
Volunteering time? If you can volunteer time on a regular weekly basis, library staff offers a number of ways volunteers can serve, please contact the volunteer coordinator, Abby Rheault at 468-5824. If you would like to volunteer time, but would prefer to help at times you choose, rather than a weekly scheduled time, the Friends of the Nampa Public Library offers opportunities. If you are interested contact Jeanette Quist.
